Honest Beauty Review
I have always loved cosmetics and beauty products. Looking in magazines and seeing all of the models beautifully made up inspired me to want to look just like them. However, my mom told me to not grow up too fast and wear minimal make up to show off my features. Apparently she knows best since that is how I look at cosmetics now! But before you get to applying your makeup, I think it is super important to take care of your skin first. I will admit I never gave it much thought as I was getting older. I would wash my face every morning and night with cleanser and moisturizer but I rarely took the time to exfoliate or hydrate my skin like I should. I started my search by exploring the products at Sephora. I found some higher price point products that I loved but once this year rolled around that was a different story. Once I ran out of my moisturizer and under eye cream I went on Target’s website to see what types of skincare products they had.
I came across Honest Beauty, by Jessica Alba. I’ve seen her in YouTube videos with other influencers talking about her products before, so I was familiar. From reading and learning from her branding, Honest is all about having safe clean formulas in all products they sell. It only makes sense to me that I should use clean products for my face, so I decided to give it a try.
The products I purchased were: Hydrogel Cream, Vitamin C Radiance Serum, 3-in-1 Detox Mud Mask, Deep Hydration Face Cream, Honestly Pure Retinol Serum, Deep Hydration Eye Cream, Organic Beauty Facial Oil, and the Magic Beauty Balm. I started buying these products in April, and I have been using them ever since.
Here is how I used them:
Morning routine- Kiehl’s Cucumber cleanser, Organic Beauty Facial Oil, Hydrogel Cream, Deep Hydration Eye Cream, Magic Beauty Balm for my lips.
Night Routine- Philosophy: Purity facial cleanser, *Vitamin C Radiance Serum or Honestly Pure Retinol Serum, Deep Hydration Face Cream, Deep Hydration Eye Cream, Magic Beauty Balm for my lips. *I would use the Honestly Pure Retinol Serum for when I had breakouts and use the Vitamin C Radiance Serum when I had mostly clear skin.
Exfoliation: 1-2 times a week I would use the 3-in-1 Detox Mud mask at night after I washed my face. I love this for a little self-care session!
I have combination/normal skin. I get a little oily around my T-zone and everywhere else is dry.
Here are my thoughts:
I really enjoyed these products. The Organic Beauty Facial Oil and the Hydrogel Cream are amazing together. I used two drops of the Organic Beauty Facial Oil as directed and that was enough for a light layer on my face. Then I went in with the Hydrogel Cream as a moisturizer. The combination of those two left my face feeling extremely light and hydrated.
My next step was using the Deep Hydration Eye Cream. I think it helped with keeping my under eyes moisturized as well. After I was done with moisturizing in the morning and night I would put the Magic Beauty Balm on my lips. I really liked this as well because it left my lips feeling super plush and glossy.
I would probably pass on the Deep Hydration Face Cream and just use the Hydrogel Cream. When I used the Deep Hydration Face Cream I felt like it made my skin a little bit oilier than normal. The Vitamin C Radiance Serum is good to use every day and definitely makes my face feel hydrated at night, which I love. The Honestly Pure Retinol Serum is good to use 1-2 times per week/when needed. I started using it daily and it made my skin overly dry, so I recommend using it when needed.
Everyone’s skin is different, so I encourage you to try and see what works best for you. If you are interested in cleaner products, Honest Beauty is a good place to start!
