My Workouts and How I Feel About Them

I have always been a pretty active person. When I was younger I danced and played softball. It took up a lot of my time which left me in really great shape. Once I got older I had to change things up. I’ve tried running to weight lifting, believe me it wasn’t as intense as it seems. When I used to work out I wanted to see results and get toned. I thought that was a great motivator but the feeling of wanting to go to the gym always faded away because I was tired or just didn’t want to go. I’m sure some of you can relate!!

It took me a long time, some Rachel Hollis, and a pandemic to change my mindset from making my body look thin and toned to making myself feel good on the inside. It started with yoga, running, and promising myself to move my body for at least 30 minutes. By making a promise to myself it’s personal. When I let myself down it makes me feel disappointed and can definitely wreck my day. If I move my body and get a little active, I find that I am in such a better mood. It has even caused me to choose some healthier food options (something I am still working towards but that can be for another time).

Once I got used to yoga and running I wanted to challenge myself a little bit more. I started to do the Melissa Wood Health workouts with my running routine. Her workouts are focused on building long strong lines and finding peace with yourself through yoga and Pilates.  She does all different types of strengthening workouts using your own bodyweight. Although this may seem simple, I am dripping sweat almost every time! It makes me feel stronger physically but also makes me feel awake and alive on the inside as well.

I think my best advice to give is be kind to yourself. Don’t feel the need to make yourself look like society’s “perfect” body. Mindset is everything, and by moving your body in a way that works best for you is the perfect way to conquer your day!
