Style Inspiration

I have always been interested in fashion. Obsessed with magazines and looking at all of the beautiful photos of beautiful clothing. I looked to other people and if they looked cute, I tried to emulate their look on me. After some time passed, I would go to pick an outfit from my closet and I didn’t want to wear anything. Isn’t that always the case? Closet full of clothes and nothing to wear? It actually drives me nuts! At that moment I realized I needed to change my approach. I needed to stop buying random things that I thought were just “cute”. I wanted my clothes to make me feel unstoppable, or that I could conquer anything. Which is why for the last 5 months I have been trying to not wear just leggings and a t-shirt every single day. More power to you though if that outfit makes you feel unstoppable. You do you! For me, I need a little more.

When looking constantly at photos on Pinterest, Instagram, and in magazines I realized I gravitate to simple chic clothing. When I am choosing what to wear daily, I look for pieces that can motivate me to get things done. And also when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror I want to think, “dang girl, get it!” Life is too short. Why be mean to yourself?

With that, I wanted to also inspire you to wear what makes you feel unstoppable, positive, and motivated; to truly feel beautiful from the inside out. When you think of your best self, what is she wearing? When I think of my best self, her wardrobe is chic. To me, chic reminds me of ultimate cool and a sense of “I woke up today and decided to conquer all things”. Now the next question is how can I figure out what clothing can make me feel this amazing?  Grab inspiration from people, Pinterest, Instagram, and magazines that you really love. Make a Pinterest board to help narrow down ideas. Use it to help you get inspired to what you want to buy or create a look with.

Obviously, there are so many brands to choose from and we typically see only the larger, mainstream brands. Look for brands that really speak to you. People are always showcasing different small brands that can match your style or the style you want to cultivate. There are so many small brands that have great quality pieces that still manage to give back to communities they support. I find new brands everyday through following people on Instagram. I think in a world full of options why not purchase from ethical people who give back to others?
